Marcom's engineers have a broad breadth of experience in radio, film, television, pro audio, information systems and network architecture. This experience includes technical as well as operational support. Simply put- we don't just know how to install your solutions, we understand how and why you're using them. It is this knowledge that helps us truly understand what your needs are and how to maximize your budget value against your goals.

A Little History

MARCOM was founded in 1977 and incorporated in 1978 as The Scotts Valley Group, Inc. by founders Martin and Shirley Jackson. The original concept for MARCOM was to serve as a manufacturer's representative, but success in that field led to expansion into systems design and installation in the broadcasting industry, light manufacturing of broadcast hardware, and design and manufacturing of audio/video teleconferencing systems. The company's success in the broadcasting industry has been largely attributable to its "engineered sales" approach to customers located in the Western region, nationwide, and, increasingly, worldwide. We have been instrumental in the design and construction of several radio and television stations, and our capabilities include "turnkey" installations. The MARCOM name is widely recognized as that of a distributor of broadcast equipment where solutions to technical problems can be obtained.

MARCOM began supplying teleconferencing systems in the early 80's and has an impressive client list, including Bechtel Power Corporation, Hughes Aircraft, TRW, Vitalink Communications Corp., the U.S. Air Force, and Hilton Hotels Corporation. During the time we were actively building systems, we maintained a consistent number-two spot in installed base, second only to Peirce-Phelps, of Philadelphia. We delivered the last in-house constructed system in 1986, and in early 1987 reached an agreement with Peirce-Phelps to yield our designs to them. From that time forward, we represented their interest in the Western United States and the Pacific Rim. Between the two firms, the total installed base is nearly 300 electronic meeting rooms of various configurations.

Since Early 1987, MARCOM has restructured its company focus, and our preferred interest has returned to broadcast efforts-RF sales, engineering, and installation. We are in operation with a reduced staff of highly motivated personnel. We maintain relationships with most manufacturers of RF and transmission-related equipment. Our efforts are directed toward the sales, engineering, installation, and maintenance of transmitters, antennas, transmission line, aural and visual STLs, remote control, monitoring, and processing.
